Meet Angela Maiorano Our Nurse Paralegal

As a former labor and delivery nurse with experience caring for mothers with high-risk pregnancies, Angela Maiorano brings more than 30 years of combined healthcare and legal experience to the Law Offices of Stephen C. Offutt.
Early in her career, Angela spent eight years on the front lines of high-risk obstetrics and postpartum care at University of Maryland St. Joseph’s Medical Center. During this time, she managed the care of high-risk patients with preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal complications, and other high-risk maternal conditions. She also worked at Johns Hopkins University’s Infertility and IVF Center and in the trauma unit at University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center.
Following her years in nursing, Angela attended law school at the University of Baltimore. After becoming a lawyer, she brought her medical and legal knowledge to work for Stephen Offutt as his nurse legal consultant. For more than 12 years, Angela has provided the firm with keen insights into birth injury cases.
In her current role, Angela conducts meticulous medical record reviews, identifies deviations from accepted standards of care, prepares detailed timelines and medical chronologies, and collaborates with expert witnesses to build compelling cases. She supports case development from initial intake through litigation, serving as a vital liaison between attorneys, healthcare providers, and clients.
Her rare dual perspective as a nurse and a lawyer is invaluable in complex birth injury and medical malpractice cases and bridges the gap between the clinical realities of the hospital and legal strategy in the courtroom in ways few professionals can.
Families trust Angela not only for her expertise, but for the compassion she brings to every case. Having supported countless mothers, infants, and families during their most vulnerable moments, she understands the profound impact of birth injuries. She is deeply committed to helping clients understand what happened, why it happened, and what can be done to seek justice and accountability.
